They were excellent. He and his assistant came on time and worked and cleaned up. He helped us select the best type of paint to use for each space. I would use Michael J. Mahoney again and I do plan to use hime to do some wallpapering in the future.

We had an excellent experience with Michael. He promptly reviewed the job at our apartment, and followed through perfectly. He removed old grass cloth wallpaper, conditioned the walls, and primed/painted the walls and ceiling for us. We would absolutely hire him again!

Mike did an excellent job overall, was incredibly responsive in communication, was careful in cleaning up at the end of each day, and was thorough in making sure we were fully satisfied with his work. He was patient while jumping through hoops to gain approval from the building, and he supplied all documentation required in a timely manner. We will definitely be using Mike again for future projects after he exceeded our expectations on this project!

Working with Michael and his partner John was great. They were always punctual, professional and respectful. The work was done quickly and well and they even finished it faster than they had initially estimated! We're very happy with the work and will definitely work with them again in the future.

We chose Michael from the Angie's List listing based on the reviews and because he lived nearby. We cannot offer enough positive praise about how well our experience went with Michael - from our first inquiry about his services, to the estimate, to the meeting concerning our painting color choices, to the daily work (he said they would start on Thursday and take 4 days which it did), to the cleanliness of the apartment after each day. Beyond all of the agreed upon tasks and how well they were carried out, Michael noted that our newly repaired floor had some fill the color of which was too light for the floor. He offered to bring some tint to tamp it down a bit. To us that said that Michael took ownership of the entire appearance of the apartment. And, oh yes, the music in the apartment while they painted was great.

We hired Michael to paint our apartment before our son arrived. He was fantastic to work with and we’ll be hiring him again any time we need painting done. His attention to detail showed in the quality of his work, and he was very patient and responsive with scheduling, which was important for us to get the work done in time for our baby. We couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out! 5 stars

I was looking for painters in my area, and I realized Michael was just up the street from our new apartment. You can tell he and his crew have decades of experience, working with us to select paint finish, paint color and even opinions on working with plaster and our tricky tray ceilings. They helped us pick the perfect ultralight grey, Oxford Grey, and trim and ceiling paint to accent and enhance the wall color. He and his team were working under a tight timeline and stayed very late on the first day to ensure they could complete the job on the second day as promised. They did a great job protecting the floors and I didn't find a drop of paint anywhere in the apartment after they were done. For the quality of work that he did, his rates were very reasonable and I would highly recommend him to anybody looking for top quality painting on the Upper West Side and beyond.

Our kitchen needed help after water damage made a mess of our ceiling.  Mike was a pleasure to work with.  He was patient enough to listen to what we were looking for and quick enough to offer suggestions.  It was clear that he understood how to make fixes and paint correctly without taking quality shortcuts.  I feel like we came up with a plan together that he then executed perfectly.  We would hire Mike again in a heartbeat.  Thanks Mike!

I found Michael on Yelp, I was looking for someone to wallpaper 2 accent walls in my apartment.

I was extremely happy with Michael's work, he is professional, had amazing attention to detail and genuinely cared about doing a fantastic job. I rarely post reviews (and I've just had a full kitchen and floorboard renovation in my apartment!), a testament to how happy I was with his handiwork.

I hired Michael to paint my office. To be perfectly frank, my office needed a lot of work with spackling and smoothing down ceilings. But he did an amazing job -- so many people have commented on how they love the new office.

He was a pleasure to work with. Very conscientious. Budget was also extremely fair. Would do business with again.

"I had Michael strip and re-wallpaper a bathroom in my office. There had been several leaks and the walls were breaking up under the paper. Although there were some unexpected problems with the walls Michael managed to solve the problem and did a wonderful job with the wallpaper. I was also looking to redecorate my entire apartment a few weeks later and so I called Michael in. He took time to estimate the correct amount of wallpaper and  helped select the colors for each room even creating custom mixes on the spot. He was trustworthy, reasonably priced and pleasant to deal with. I have no hesitation in recommending his services."

"After I moved in September, 2008 into the co-op apartment I had purchased, I hired Michael Mahoney to paint my two-bedroom apartment. I found him in the Yellow Pages Telephone Directory, called him up, and arranged an interview. I was very impressed by his manner and by his display of knowledge. I told him that the work had to be finished within a week of the starting date. He gave me an estimate—a reasonable one, and I engaged him to do the work.
